Irresponsibility

And then we have this article from the New York Times by way of Andrew Sullivan about people who, unlike the people mentioned in my previous posting, really are irresponsible, self-important, parasitic jackasses. I'm finding the whole discussion on "authenticity" and "irony" to be increasingly an exercise in navel-gazing.

Just remember, people 'round here drink PBR because they LIKE it.

Me, I'm a Natty Ice man all the way.

And you honestly believe that it's possible to separate taste from image?

Of course not. What we like is always wrapped up in how we want to be seen. This holds true for hipsters and my parents. It is, however, possible to drink so much PBR that you no longer care.

Oh my yes. It certainly aint this black and white line. Very rarely does the man come along who, like me in particular, has both incredible taste and incredible image, all without pretense.

And, sweet Mary Magdelene, so earnestly humble.

Yeah, all of a sudden I don't feel so bad...

Just remember who sacrificed himself on the altar of cool...

Just because your Natty Ice is cold doesn't mean that it's cool. There's a difference.
