British police and intelligence forces are targeting specific ethnic groups and "not wasting time searching old white ladies".
It's about time. The randomization of searches in this country is damnably inefficient and inexcusably ineffective. The ACLU be damned: I want my racial profiling.

Posted by: Adrienne at August 2, 2005 10:18 AMOrdinarily we'd probably agree Adrienne, but the truth is that the Brits are having to take this step because they've allowed radical Muslims to preach jihad without consequence up to this point. They thought they would be able to keep better tabs on these people if it was all out in the open. That didn't stop the two bombings in July. If we don't put a stop to the ACLU, the US will end up in the same boat.
Posted by: RobU at August 2, 2005 10:57 PMI agree in principle. Clearly we want our security forces to focus their energies in the most promising areas that will lead to the most significant returns. The blue-hairs aren't high my list either. However, how can you be sure that a young Arab man is in fact, a young Arab man - just by looking at him? My family is Italian. My brother has jet-black hair, dark skin, Mediterranean nose (if you will). He could pass for an Arab and has been screened and checked at every airport he's been in since 9/11. He's been questioned, detained, missed flights, forced to sit in the front of the planes where they can "keep their eye on him". He's been searched, the list goes on. What about his rights as a law-abiding American citizen?
