Is anyone surprised?

Turns out the leading British opponent of the war in Iraq, MP George Galloway, was... in Saddam's pocket. The guy embezzled $150,000 in oil revenues through his now-estranged wife's company.

Does anyone wonder why he might have opposed the invasion? Now who's talking about blood for oil?

The first thing I thought when I saw the news was, "I hope this makes Christopher Hitchens feel a bit better." And wouldn't you know? It does.

God bless Hitch. (He would likely decline the offer, but no matter.) By taking on thugs like Gentleman George, he's been nearly singlehandedly keeping American punditry ethical. And he's not even American.

Got to love 'im. I'm half tempted to read his Jefferson bio simply to read more of his prose.
