My name is Ryan, and I'm an introvert

Those of you who have met me personally should already know that.

Anyways, with a hat-tip to Sullivan, here's an excellent piece by one Jonathan Rauch entitled "Caring for Your Introvert".

Money quote: "I'm an introvert. You are a wonderful person and I like you. But now please shush."

I rather like this one too:

"Are introverts arrogant? Hardly. I suppose this common misconception has to do with our being more intelligent, more reflective, more independent, more level-headed, more refined, and more sensitive than extroverts."

Got to love a writer with a sense of irony.

oh come on, while this guy may have introverts down he is misjudging the extroverts in the exact way that he gets mad a tht extroverts for judging the introverts: "after two minutes alone an extrovert will reach for the cell phone," "if we introverts ran the world it would be a calmer, saner place." For myself, I don't know whether I'm an introvert or an extrovert, so I can't say, "no, that is not true because I am nothing like that, but I feel that 75% is an awfully large portion of the population to make generalizations about.
