As I'm now working upwards of 60 hours a week, I'd like to make it known that the best way of getting in touch with me is no longer the phone, but email. My normal day goes something like this:
6:30, get up
7:40, be at school
8:10-10:50, teach
10:50-12:30, grade homework, etc.
12:30-2:30, eat and work out
2:30-11:00, work
That doesn't leave a lot of time to hang out or talk to people, but as I only teach M-F and only work evenings 4-5 days a week, there will be mornings and evenings where I am available. So shoot me an email, and we can work something out.
Not that there's anyone out there just dying to get in touch, but still... one must at least pretend.

Posted by: linnea at September 21, 2005 9:34 AMSend me your email address. I keep losing it.
Your address, that is. Some would argue that I am losing it generally, but fie on them.
Posted by: mesh at September 21, 2005 10:57 AMSo what possessed you to work 60 hour weeks? Are you paying off enormous debts or something? I never really enjoyed weeks like that, but I guess a person could get used to it.
Posted by: bob at September 21, 2005 1:07 PMWhat's possessed me is that teaching part time seems to be the best thing I could do for my career this year, and the part time income isn't enough to pay the bills. Ergo, I need another job. Furthermore, I need benefits, and only full time jobs have benefits. Ergo, I need a full time job. Ergo, I work one full time and one part time job.
In the "real world", which so many of my Covenant peers seem to be studiously avoiding, it's pretty normal to work 50-60 hours a week. That's just par for the course.
Posted by: ryan at September 21, 2005 1:24 PMI fell tremendously lazy if I work less than 60 hours a week. What else would I do with my time?

Posted by: beck at September 21, 2005 6:55 PMIt's ryan.davidson at gmail and you know the rest.
Posted by: ryan at September 21, 2005 9:11 PMMmmm, carousing.
That's good to know, Ryan. I've been working on support-raising about 50 hours a week, plus I don't know how much on language and research. I just thought it was a season. It makes me feel much better to know that I'll be doing it always.
(No, it really does. And it helps to know that others are, too. I didn't mean to be discouraging with my first comment. Press on.)
