AdBusters is the end of Western civilization
In a piece that's gotten a bit of play on the interwebs today, AdBusters, that pinnacle of capitalism-driven countercultural paradox, is calling hipsters "the end of Western civilization."
Irony has reached critical mass and is now beginning to generate it's own gravitational field. Western civilization may well end, but if hipsters are involved it won't be because they "stopped giving birth to anything new" (though birth rates are alarmingly low in that demographic), but because the degree of un-self-critical, narcissistic hogwash has collapsed upon itself to the point that nothing, not even light, can escape from the massive black hole that is countercultural self-righteousness.
